Laws of Simplicity // System
Print, Book, Sequence
Typography, Book Design, Adaptation
The project challenged me to establish a consistent typographic system. Intergrating the original image assets lended itself to creative reinteruptations from the original book by John Maeda’s Laws of Simplicity.
The book itself focused on the idea that “less is more,” which influenced my design philosophy. Beginning the process like any other text project, choose a font and a fitting complimentary to develop a system around.
To conclude the project, the biggest takeaway is design language and how vital it is to connect to the narrative. Using Futura to break up the various sections, the paragraphs were using Kepler to contrast to the headers but never straying away from the original intent of simplicity.
