Office of Oddities

Motion Design
Visual Identity

826 Maine is a spot for the weird to bloom. Here is where the odd doesn’t get a second glance. 826 is a chain of stores throughout the US that tackles childrens’ literacy, but under the disguise of various themes and genres.

The Office of Oddities does not try to stick out because it is hidden in plain sight.

An unsuspecting office supply store that is for the unidentified creatures of the world (otherwise known as cryptids). It’s like Staples for the strange, Office Depot for the oddballs, and Uline for the unnatural.

Logo Explorations
Ascii art and retro typography guided this project from its beginning. The Office of Oddities wordmark being completely pixelated lended itself to creating its own grid system allowing me to stretch it and play with its shape.

The 826 was ment to mark the specific location where I got a great deal of local culture during my research. The most notable aspect being the cryptid museum and its long running history of documenting strange entities.
